Principal's Welcome

St Francis Xavier is a Catholic, co-educational Prep to Year 6 school of approximately 500 students situated in the City of Ipswich, adjacent to the Ipswich Motorway. The school has been in existence for over 100 years, having been established in 1910 and is rich in the Mercy Tradition. The values of respect, compassion and hospitality that were first embedded by the Sisters of Mercy are the foundation of our school.

Our school has welcomed children and families from many countries around the world. Over forty nationalities are represented. We are proud of the way that our community blends the best from these cultures to develop and reflect the motto of the school: "Kids Who Care". I would like to extend a warm welcome to our school website where you will learn more about what makes St Francis Xavier an excellent choice for your child's education. We acknowledge that parents are the first educators of their child and we are committed to working in partnership with you so that your child grows into a successful individual who makes a positive difference in the world in which they live.

At Saint Francis Xavier we endeavour to develop students' strengths and talents so that all students can achieve to their best ability. Our staff are committed educators who strive to promote the Catholic ethos in all that they do, living the Gospel values.  Additionally, they promote the best in their learners through delivering the Australian Curriculum in an innovative and creative way with a Catholic Perspective. At Saint Francis Xavier we believe that learning is lifelong and students learn best through an enquiry process, solving real world problems with 'hands on' experience. We not only provide educational opportunities in learning, but in the Arts, Music & Sports. We offer many before school and lunchtime clubs where students can develop or try these interests.

St Francis Xavier is well known and has an excellent reputation within the Ipswich community.  We pride ourselves on the spirit that can be found in our students, staff and parents and it is these people as well as the very tangible culture of our school, which makes St Francis Xavier a great school and a great community to be a part of. As a leader I value positive partnerships with families, collaboration with staff and pride myself in knowing students as learners and living the Gospel in my words and actions.

I warmly welcome you to explore our website further and invite you to contact the school directly for more information and to book a tour with myself.

God Bless,

Kellie Jacobsen
